The Department of Design and Construction builds many of the civic facilities New Yorkers use everyday. They provide communities with new or renovated facilities such as firehouses, libraries, police precincts, courthouses and senior centers. A program under the DDC is Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Design and Construction Excellence program. It focuses on “engaging firms with exceptional design expertise and implementing innovative procurement, design and construction standards.”
